It can be either an opinion or informative, but it should take up space, though.
There could be a "Why I dislike Gordon" or "Stanton Barrett's career". Just tell me before you send it, if you are still interested.
Thanks

I am now an official member of the site. I would like to write an article about Greg for this site. I have met Greg a few times, and have been following him since 1985. I can give career information and personal opinions as well.

Ok Sam, no one else has applied for Sacks article, so it is yours. I have seen you on GS's forum, too. Good Luck
Thank you, Mike K.

Greg Sacks article by Sam Miller
Greg Sacks was born on November 3, 1952. He is a native of Mattituck New York. Greg Sacks began racing in the Winston Cup ranks in 1983 with his family owned Sacks & Sons Racing team. Before he became a NASCAR driver Greg made a name for himself driving in the NASCAR Modified Series. Sack’s first major victory came in 1980 at the Oswego Classic. In 1982 Greg won 28 of 38 races entered that year driving the Wilsberg #5 car. Greg was also the Stafford Speedway track champion in 1982.
In 1984 Greg drove in all but one of the NASCAR series events that year. He finished 19th in the points, and scored his first career top 10 that year. In 1985 Greg was picked to drive a car for DiGard racing at the July Firecracker 400 at Daytona. His crew chief for the race was Gary Nelson. Greg won the race beating all of the big names to the checkered flag that day. Greg drove for several different car owners throughout the 80's with mixed results.
1990 proved to be a very good year for Greg Sacks. Greg drove for Rick Hendrick and Paul Newman Motorsports in selected races that year He earned his first NASCAR Pole Position at Daytona for the Firecracker 400. Unfortunately, Greg was involved in a first lap accident at that race. He finished 2nd to Dale Earnhardt in his first race with the team at Talladega. Greg also subbed for a injured Darrell Waltrip that year and produced another 2nd place at Michigan in the Tide car.
Sacks did most of the stunt driving for Tom Cruise in the movie “Days of Thunder” in 1990 as well. Greg also had a pole position in the Busch Series in 1990 along with 2 top 5 finishes in 6 races. Like the 80's Greg drove for various car owners in the 90's with mixed results. In 1994 Greg sat on the pole in the final race at Atlanta driving for D.K. Ulrich and finished the year with 3 top 10 finishes including a 6th place at the Daytona 500. Greg won a Busch Series race at Talladega driving for Diamond Ridge Motorsports in 1996 as well.
Greg Sacks also drove for Felix Sabates in selected races in relief of an injured Robby Gordon in the 90's. In 1998 Greg was seriously injured in an accident at Texas Speedway while driving for Cale Yarborough Motorsports. He was forced on the sidelines for several years. He did return to the modified ranks before trying to return to the Cup level. Greg drove in a few ARCA races in 2003 and 2004 for Jones Racing with some very good runs. In 2004 Greg Sacks announced his return to NASCAR racing with his own team Daytona Speed. He qualified on speed for 3 races which proved he could still drive a car. Greg also ran a Craftsman Truck Series race in 2004 as well. As of March 2005 Greg has 261 Cup starts with 1 win and 20 top 10 finishes. He has 32 Busch Series starts with 1 victory and 5 top 10 finishes.
I have met Greg a few times over the years, and I have always found him to be a very nice person to talk to. I first met him soon after he had won his first NASCAR race in 1985 at Martinsville, and he took time to sign my hat. I was 13 years old at the time, and I have been a diehard fan ever since. I wish Greg Sacks and all of the other underdog racers out there a very prosperous 2005.
