I used to have a problem with, but as I have come to understand the economics of racing, I've become tolerant of it.
My opinion is this: If you qualify for a race, you earned the right to do whatever the heck you want. The guys that went home should not be pitied whatsoever.

True, its the people whos lifes and money arent at stake that do all the whining! I love to listen to whining about S&Ping. Ive never heard any big name driver pissed cause someone S&Ped. Just pissed cause some clown was tooling around the track too slow and getting in the way.

Yeah, I look at it in kinda the same view as you do. )-YES, you are RIGHT. The person who EARNS their way into the field is entitled to do whatever the fudge they want to do with that position. It's theirs. However, I would certainly like to think that they would VALUE that position that they EARNED more so than to sacrifice it to a parking job. (here I go again on politics...but....) Say a certain (unamed, chimp like being) person is elected President of the United States Of America. He is certainly entitled to form and mold this country into whatever he wants to make it into. A s***hole, a democracy, a representation of the people, a leader of the free world or a laughing stock of 3rd world countries. Well, you certainly can't blame people who oppose their tactics (being "park" car drivers or presidents) for disagreeing and being upset with the way they chose to run their operation, as its darned sure our right to do so. I would give you credit had I, or anyone else, griped that a certain S&P driver knocked "OUR" (or MY) driver out of the field. But from what I hear & read, its not so much the fact that "OUR" driver DNQ'ed as much as it is that "YOUR" driver parked his car. I wouldn't care if Jimmie Johnson DNQ'ed by Morgan ShelmerCope making the race. (and I could give a rodent's rectum about J Johnson) Its just a dignity issue. Have some self respect and respect for the former, "sport." And as we've discussed on many other forums, the "saving money" BS theory is total hogwash as EVERY S&P team has bitten the dust, except our old NRN pals, Morgoth and Snailmerdine and lately (but BARELY) Cope & his McPark team. Go Morgan! Go Kirk! Go Derrike! Go for 12 laps!! Hoorah!!! Give 'em heck boys! You are truly ambasadors for our sport and give it a good name. I'm wanting to start my own NFL team next year with buddies of mine from high school. Yeah, we'll forfit our first 18 seasons worth of games, but by that point, we'll have enough money to go into the draft and trading situations with a "full" effort. I'm sure it won't piss off the millions of people who pay (via grandstand seats, cable subscriptions or through licensing rights) to watch us forfiet the game in the 1st quarter, right?

Matthew!!! How the heck have you been? I hope your doing good. Honesty, I enjoy every single thread you post! Hell even if I dont agree!
I saw the pics of you and the other guys that met in Hotlanta! Looks like you had an awesome time! I predict we are going to be bored silly this year with all the new teams and money ....really sucks!
I went to autozone a couple of times to rent spring compressors and a ball joint tool. Thought of you, wondered if you were still there. Put a small lift on the jeep grand over the x-mas holidays. Have a great 2007! I hope your man gets into some races and runs the distance. Later Pete
Hope your boy Hylton gets into the race.

Great money, and just an all around fun gig! www.myspace.com/113206317 (very generic page) Same to you all (happy 2007)....looks like ol man James has got some rough sledding judging from today's practice speeds, lol!

I prefer not to compare world-wide politics that can lead to worldwide devastation and the deaths of billions of people to trying to keep a fledgling racing team going. While the basic principal is similar, there is a line. There is such a thing as too extreme a comparison, IMO. Same with the football comparison. Call me when more than two teams slap each other over pig skin. I just don't see it as a dignity issue, myself. I can respect the racer who go the distance, regardless. However, I also respect the smart business man who keeps his team in his mind. It's not my preferred thing, but oh well.

Well, Captian Spyro I disagree with you. S&Pers are a disgrace to NASCAR. The fact that these people are allowed to do this is crazy. And then bring God in to it. I's just not right.

I don't like S&Ping, but they DID make it in the show and beat out other drivers and teams. It's their right to be in the race and as far as I'm concerned, it's almost unconstitutional to tell a team they can't race.
The only way of getting away from it is to franchise the teams which means there won't be any new teams or to make every race an invitational race.
You can't tell someone they can't race just because they S&P. That would be one funny court case...

I hate it when people S&P. It's a cheap way to make last place money and i hate it. Why can't they just purposley crash so it atleast looks like they made an effort to race. I do know one thing though, if somebody out qualifys Vickers and he dosent make the race and then some clown S&P's there will be a problem.
