Since I'm the last one in here, should I turn out the lights?

Is this a sarcastic remark about the lack of activity in this forum?

Maybe a little of that and maybe the fact that I doubt we will see Kirk or any of the other true underdogs compete in a cup race ever again. NASCAR has upped the ante to the point that only the big name teams with the big name sponsors will be able to make a race.

The NASCAR Nextel Cup series is the premier Stock Car division in America.
Teams with two year old cars traveling 5-10 MPH slower shouldn't be racing in it.

I totally agree with Hypersonic. Clevelandsteamer, what do you expect NASCAR to do? Give these uncompetitive teams money, sponsors, etc? NASCAR doesn't favor anyone. There's a reason why the guys upfront have the big named sponsors...it's because they're running up front.
I'm tired of hearing this BS of how NASCAR is losing its routes. This is the best it has ever been. Kirk is a great driver but if he can't find a way to become competitive than he simply doesn't want it bad enough. There's millions of ways to get from point A to point B. 95% of the drivers and teams in NASCAR are running in circles "looking" for sponsors. I applaud Bobby Ginn's approach. Every sponsor in NASCAR could leave the sport but Ginn Racing would be ontop because of the team's own personal finances from Ginn's companies.

Dj11, I agree with you to a point. The thing is it's like AT&T in the 1970s. It's going to become similar to that. I doubt it will be a monopoly per se, but it will get so expensive that only a few super-large teams exist.
