I was lucky enough to get in contact with Mrs. Nancy McGill, part-owner of DCT Motorsports, where Dreams Come True! Stanton Barrett currently drives the #36 TUCSON Chevy/Pontiac. Ask any questions you have to Nancy, here.

How did you meet up with Stanton? Are you happy with the teams preformance thus far? Just want you to know I look for the sponsors on ALL the cars, file it in my memory banks for future reference and will always choose a company who sponsors racing over ones that do not.

We met Stanton through our crew chief, Ricky Pearson, last fall. Ricky knew Stanton and thought it would be a good change for our team. Stanton also had sponsorship that he thought would carry into 2005 for us. Since our marketing company wasn't producing anything for us and we were so underfunded, we took the chance on Stanton. Unfotunately, Stanton's sponsorship fell through for this season. But, we're still pounding the pavement and getting little deals here and there. Stanton is a very unique individual and can be strong on the track, given good equipment. The team's performance is like a roller coaster ride. We have an extremely great crew and Ricky Pearson is the best. When we finish in the top 20, we are on such a high and motivated to push harder. However, I can get on a rock-bottom low when we have an accident, get spun out by another driver, have mechanical problems or penalities imposed. When I look at our finishes, I feel they don't look very impressive. But, when I think about why we finished where we did each race, I realize that we have run good, competitive races, especially considering who we're competing against. I was talking recently with someone from Hendrick and he mentioned that they have 507 employees. We have 7. To be as competitive as we are, with our small crew and being underfunded, has to make me happy. I'm very glad to hear that you patronize the sponsors of racing.......thanks......... Can you get Dukes of Hazzard to sponsor the car for promotional reasons?

Funny you mention that, as I just talked to Warner Bros. earlier this week. It appears I'm too late as they are already running a car at Daytona. I don't know for which team. I had thought it would be a neat promotion to have the stunt driver of the General Lee, driving the General Lee at a race. Oh well....................Nancy McGill

Hey Nancy,
Lol, nice to see you here.
What is the hardest part about owning a car and being from ohio, running in a place dominated by North Carolina teams.

Hey Nancy,
How many members do you have in your shop?

Dion - the hardest part about being an absentee owner is you can't monitor what's going on at the shop, i.e. crew's hours, inventory, etc. What makes it easier is that we feel we have a good crew. They always do what it takes to be ready to go at each race. What's also been difficult is that we haven't had internet set up to at least communicate through emails, but that's changing soon. DJ - I never received an email from you. 49 - The pontiac is Stanton Barrett's car and I think it's performance has surprised people. He ran that car in Phoenix, which has been our best finish so far. From what I hear, I don't think that car can be used next year and, yes, we will be updating our little fleet. dj88fan - At the shop we have 10 guys. Two of them stay at the shop full time and the other 8 travel to the tracks. That doesn't include Stanton and an administrative assistant in Cleveland. That's it - that's our team! The over-the-wall crew that we use for each race is from Hendrick's developmental program, and are starting to improve nicely on their pit stop times. Nancy McGill www.dctmotorsports.com

Where does DCT get there motors from? How many cars do you have? Do you build your chassis in house or buy them? And what's your take on Buschwackers? Thanks.

Nancy, Have you all at DCT ever wanted to run fulltime with the newer models and a drive who could make all the races?

morgan89fan - We get a fresh motor every race from Fischer Engineering and we buy our chassis from Hopkins. We have 8 cars - 2 superspeedway, 5 downforce, 1 road course. Regarding the Buschwackers, I have mixed feelings on that subject. There's debate whether they help draw the crowd for our races and if that's a fact, then it's valuable to have the Cup drivers in Busch. However, I've seen non-companion races where we have hardly no Buschwackers and we still draw a great crowd. The drivers I have talked to don't seem to mind them, in fact, they feel that competition helps them develop more. They look at it like the junior varsity having the opportunity to play with the varsity. I personally don't like it and for the main reason that it draws attention away from the Busch regulars. Media attention is so important, along of course with a good finish, when you're trying to solicit sponsorship and when a potential company never sees you on TV, they're not going to put their dollars into that team. And when you're underfunded, it's a struggle to be competitive to get that recognition. It's a big circle. If we had a full time sponsor and if the media would spread their coverage out to include the entire field and not just the big names, then I wouldn't mind the Buschwackers at all. I do think, though, that Nascar should put a limit on either how many enter a Busch race or how many times a particular Cup driver enters throughout the season. Ryan Ray - I'm not sure I understand your questions. Other than the old Pontiac that we ran a few races, we do have updated bodies and chassis. And that old Pontiac finished 12th in Phoenix. Maybe we should run old Pontiac's and not new Chevy's! If you mean a "driver" who could make all the races - other than last weekend in Chicago, Stanton has qualified the car on speed every race, not needing our "locked in" advantage. And we're still trying to evaluate what was wrong with the Chicago car. Yesterday, they hauled it to RCR's shop to perform some tests on it. (If we had big sponsorship, maybe we'd have our own testing equipment, instead of our crew chief driving 2 1/2 hours away to use someone else's) Nancy McGill www.dctmotorsports.com
